As an organization committed to continually broadening the vision and perspective of its leadership, Clustrix seeks diverse board members who can help put its technology in context and seek out the places in the market where it can be effectively applied. This month, Clustrix welcomes tech executive, investor and trusted adviser Shawn Douglass to the board.
Over the last 20 years, Douglass has served as a hands-on technologist and advisor to organizations large and small, applying his extensive knowledge and expertise to competitively guide them. He currently serves as president of Unified, an award-winning marketing and analytics technology company, and heads up the company’s SaaS and Big Data and Analytics division. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing everything from product management to software engineering and developer operations.
Prior to Unified, Douglass served as CTO at ServiceMesh, acquired in November 2013 by CSC, where he was responsible for spearheading the vision, strategy and delivery of the organization’s hybrid cloud management platform. His dynamic position enabled him to have a hand in everything from sales and marketing to business development and partnership establishment.
At Clustrix, Douglass intends to apply his strong operational background—specifically, in software and cloud database operation—to steer Clustrix in the areas of business development and investment.
“Clustrix is very uniquely positioned in that the company has migrated to a software-only offering that is specifically positioned for e-commerce use. And in my view, Amazon’s recent announcement of its Aurora MySQL offering only further validates what Clustrix is doing in the cloud database realm.”
Douglass has been following and actively building scale out databases for a decade, and has long had his finger on the pulse of Clustrix. Throughout his career, he has positioned himself in the West Coast “eye of the storm” of the technology industry, and is driven by its dynamism.
“The rate of change within the technology field is so compelling, as is the ability to identify and leverage paradigm shifts within the industry,” he explains. “It’s exhilarating to be here in Silicon Valley with exposure to what’s happening in the technology industry at both the macro and micro level. I can’t think of a better place to be.”
