Successful Industry Veteran to Lead Venture-Backed Big Data Company in Its Next Growth Phase

San Francisco, Calif. – October 18, 2011Clustrix announced today the appointment of Robin Purohit as President and CEO. A successful executive with an impressive track record, Purohit has led more than 20 acquisitions and has been an executive leader for three successful exits of Mercury to HP (2007), VERITAS to Symantec (2005), and CANSTAR Communications to HP (1994). Purohit succeeds Paul Mikesell, co-founder of Clustrix, who will serve as vice president of strategy and technology.

Purohit came to Clustrix from HP, where he was a vice president and general manager of HP's three-billion-dollar portfolio of IT management, information management, and application security products. He joined HP through the Mercury Interactive acquisition; at Mercury, he was vice president of product management and marketing. Prior to that, Purohit was a vice president of product management and marketing at VERITAS Software, where he led a two-billion-dollar product line for storage software, backup and recovery, cluster computing, and utility computing.

“We are pleased to have Robin join the Clustrix team to help accelerate corporate growth for one of our portfolio companies,” said Greg McAdoo of Sequoia Capital, a Clustrix investor. “His remarkable management experience and industry insight in the enterprise and service provider markets make him the perfect leader to guide Clustrix through its next expansion phase.”

“I am thrilled to be here at Clustrix today,” said Robin Purohit. “Clustrix has world-class investors, an amazing parallel database architecture that is customer proven, and a team with a track record of creating new markets. We have reinvented the relational database from the ground up to support the most demanding ‘big data’ Internet applications with transactional workloads. Our customers realize significant cost and time savings with our combination of simplicity, unmatched performance, scalability, and MySQL compatibility.”

No Sharding!

Database sharding is expensive and risky. It introduces significant opportunity cost and risk by requiring additional application code and operational complexity.

Clustrix diminishes the cost and complexity of sharding. Clustrix has created a distributed database that grows online through clustering.
